The best study schedule for SA high school students

MyStudyDesk Team15 April 20265 min read

Most study schedules on the internet assume you have 8 free hours a day. SA high school students don't. You have school, then maybe sport, then homework, then dinner — by the time you can sit down to study, you have maybe 2 hours of real focus left.

Here's a schedule that actually fits a real SA high school day.

The weekday plan

  • School: 7:30 to 14:30
  • Sport / extramural: 14:30 to 16:00
  • Homework: 16:30 to 18:00 (yes, this counts as studying)
  • Dinner + break: 18:00 to 19:30
  • Focused study: 19:30 to 21:00 (one subject, no phone)
  • Wind down + sleep: 21:30

90 minutes of focused study in the evening, every weekday, beats 5 hours of phone-distracted study on Sunday night. Consistency wins.

Saturday and Sunday

Saturdays are for sport, family and friends — and maybe one 2-hour study block in the morning if a test is coming up. Sundays do one 2-hour block plus one 1-hour block. Use weekends to catch up on the subjects you fell behind in during the week, not to grind extra hours into your best subject.

Exam-week tweaks

The day before each exam, study only that subject. The day of the exam, light revision in the morning, do not cram new material. The evening after, take an hour off — your brain needs to release the previous exam before it can prepare for the next.

Why the AI helps here

MyStudyDesk builds this kind of schedule from your exam timetable in 30 seconds. It weighs harder subjects more, gives you fewer subjects per day (less context-switching), and locks the day before each exam to that one subject. Free to start with 2 subjects.

A schedule you can stick to beats a perfect schedule you can't.
