Why we built it
South African students deserve better than an English-first, American-focused study app that doesn't understand their language, doesn't know their textbook's setwerk, and can't mark their exam style.
We built MyStudyDesk after watching our own kids struggle to study with an AI tutor that talks in a foreign accent and answers their Maths with formatting their teacher doesn't accept. There had to be a better way.
So we built something bilingual from day one, that answers in Afrikaans or English, knows the CAPS curriculum, uses SA examples, and prices in Rand. No translation layer, no 'close enough'.
What we actually care about
Truly bilingual
Afrikaans and English from day one. No second-class translation layer. Every button, every AI response, every email works in both languages equally well.
CAPS-aligned, not generic
The AI knows the SA CAPS curriculum, recognises subject codes like WI and EHL, and uses SA-specific case studies and setwerk.
Privacy first
Your notes and AI conversations are private. Friends only see your name and school. Parents only see summaries, never your actual work.
Affordable for SA families
R150 a month or R1500 a year — about half an hour of a private tutor. Free to start with 2 subjects, forever.
Teach, not copy
The AI is trained to show the WORKING, not just the answer. Every step, every method, every reasoning — so you can do it in the exam yourself.
Built in SA
No San Francisco office. Just a small team of South Africans who wrote matric papers themselves and know what works.
Ask us anything
Ask a question, give feedback, or just say hi. We answer everyone.
